Church of Light Movie and Strategy Statement

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5vX5cPwC0UU

To highlight the complexity inherent within decaying structures, I utilised 22 unique textures and various combinations thereof; consequently developing the organic materiality of the structure's decay appropriate to a lush environment. The preservation of the cross defies its immediate surroundings. This juxtaposition is emblematic of humanity's struggle to control its environment. This motif is played upon and reiterated by the impeccable condition of the book as its symbolic value communicates the longevity of human ideologies. In this manner, the church's value transitions from a place of congregation and celebration, to a testament of human existence. However, as a manifestation of human existence the church is unable to survive the ravages of time. The church's final stand ironically crumbles in the effervescent ray of hope. Tempore praevalet.

WEEK 6 - How the Landscape is changing

One of the criteria for meeting a good grade is to change the landscape to mould around your decayed building.  I have been changing the direction of the sun to maximise the opportunity of creating strong sunlight through the cross of the church.  I have flooded the terrain to show how the hurricane has effected the location.  The last image shows how I have started to place dead logs around the landscape in positions which mould around my building.  The dead trees that have fallen on the church of light are bushes from cryengine.  I have angled them and placed 'sliding earth' around them to create the image that the tree has pulled up the roots and ground beneath it.

WEEK 6 - Blending further and Lecture Review

These pictures show how my colour blending translates into effect texture blends on cry engine.

Lecture review

When the image of the algae in the pool came up, it instantly clicked that I needed to flood my landscape with water from the hurricane . As my building is amongst dense jungle vegetation, this will provide an ideal situation where plants grow underground and weaken a building. I will also try to incorporate some concrete spalling.

WEEK 5 - Rayfire and Lecture Review

The following YouTube links are an example of how I'm getting ray fire to work.  I shoot a normal wall to show how it isn't going to break and then I shoot the breakable part of the wall to show how it can crumble.

Lecture Review:

From Week fives lecture I was able to see what can be achieved with the ray fire tool.  The inspiration I took from the lecture was the possibility of crumbling a major part of my building.  I want to focus on crumbling a piece of concrete close to the cross to create the feeling that faith is all that's left.

WEEK 4 - Making rayfire work

The link to my video example of ray fire is above.  I was able to successfully destroy a section of my wall and I plan to do a larger section of the wall in my video.

WEEK 5 - Youtube Videos and Lecture Reflection

The following 5 disaster movies are inspiration for the kind of intro movie I will be screening.
